Sources for 6.5x57R ammunition

I have been trying to locate a few different types of 6.5x57R ammunition for a gun and can only locate some 93 gr RWS ammo (OWS) and S&B ammo. What other options are out there? Does anyone know of custom loaders that will do this?

I want something a little heavier than the RWS bullet weight and to get something in addition to the S&B.

OWS on the website only appeared to have 93 gr RWS at $50/box amd S&B. I have some S&B wanted to try something different and 93 gr. at that price didn't do much for me.

When I lived in Germany, lo these many years ago, the 93-grain was the only weight available from RWS in both the 6.5X57 and the 6.5X57R ... They may load heavier weights now, I don't know!! We shot a lot of Rehbock with the 93-grain!

7,0 g KS
8,2 g KS
9,1 g DK

What has been your experience with the 93 gr loads on heavier game?

My impression is that the Roe deer is about 30 kg or less. I would think that most of the Whitetail in my area, other than yearlings would be 50-100Kg(some outside chance of 120kg). Then there is a rapidly enlarging Wild boar population that might present itself. [Big Grin]

Is the 93gr (6 g) bullet routinely used on this larger sized animal in Germany? I used Win 243's with 100 grain bullets with good results on deer in another location that rarely exceeded 60 KG, but I am sort of unsure using something lighter against hogs.

Richard: I concur with Carcano!! The only critter I ever shot with the 6,0 gram 6.5X57 was roe deer. Plenty for THEM, but I'd hesitate to try to down a boar with one!! I'd prefer the 8X68S for that chore!!

Go for the RWS 8,2 gr (127 grains) KS. I'm very happy with it in my 6,5x57 and I'm sure it's adequate for whitetail.
For wild boar I use 140 grain partitions (handloads)

Load your own ammo for it. Get some cases, fill them with Norma 204 44 grains or equivalent and put a 160 grains Hornady RN on the top. It will do a good job on most game in the US. You can use standard dies for 6,5x57 Mauser, but you must have case holder for rimmed cases.
