HOWA 223
just picked up a HOWA HOUGE 1500 GREEN, at sportsmans warehouse yesterday, ready to go behind my house at my 100 meter range and test it, I hear 55 grain ammo is tops for the 1 in 12 twist..

55gr and under and some of the shorter heavier bullets.

If you want the best bullet for accuracy the 52gr match king is the standard.

power? I have 4064, RL-15 , 4166 , 4895, H380,
and a lot of slow burning power..
I load for a lot of stuff, but never a .223 rem. I have always bought ammo for my 1969 colt AR-15

I have used 15 before. Maybe not greatest velocity but good accuracy. 4895 will most likely be in same boat. Good ball powders like Tac, H335, or CFE 223 will help you get the most out of it.

I bought a Howa .223 about 2 years ago and I am thrilled with it.
I first tried several different factory loads and was pleased that it likes them all in 50, 52 and 55 grain. It shoots white and black boxed 50 grain "Blaster" remanufactured ammo into .5" 5 shot groups.
Accurate handloads for me consist of Varget or TAC and 52 grain Sierra Matchkings.(actually a variety of bullets are working well for me )
One more pleasant surprise for me besides the accuracy and quality of this rifle was the scope that came with it. At first I assumed the Nikko Sterling 2-10x44 scope would be a throw away but I've found it to be sharp clear and tracks perfectly through it's adjustments.

I shot a lot of 4064 in mine and a lot more BAL-C2.

Then a lot of WC844

Congrats! Is it a full size action or their mini version? There's a thread on the mini here:

I think my howa has 1-9" twist and works well. I think they're pretty good for the price.

My fullsize is a Mossberg Howa. I never found out where the stock came from. A buddy liked it more than me so I sold it to him.
