I'm looking to buy a .243 in the near future and have 3 rifles in mind.
Remington 700
Winchester mod70
Tikka T3

which one would you guys go for and why ?

Please help me make my mind up.

I am a Winchester fan and do like my .243 Mod 70---if buying a new one,I'd go off your list and get a CZ most likely.

You can find out what rifles people like and buy one of them or you can go down and handle the rifles on your list and get the one that feel's and handle's best for you. You would be hard pressed to find a bad rifle reguardless of brand. If I were you, I'd go down and choose one for myself.

I have no Tikka experience so until I handle one I can only comment on the Rem and Win which I would pick the Winchester because I favor the 3 position safety. Rem are supposed to be very accurate and they build a fine rifle, Winchester does too and is no accuracy slouch either. I guess what I'm saying is handle them all including working the safeties and bolts check the stock fit and feel and you decide, they all are fine firearms.

I have A Tikka T-3 lite in stainless, and it is in 243 WIN. awsome rifle,used it in Douglas WY. this year on my yearly Antelope hunt, Nice rifle to carry, and it shoots nice to, the 4 X 12 leupold helps to bring things close. Always nice to get A new rifle.

Those are all good choices, but have you considered a HOWA.

IMO, they are the same if not better quality. They also make the rifles under the Weatherby Vanguard brand.

Also take a look at the Styer Pro Hunter Mountain rifle. Dead accurate right out the box with a great trigger.

I'd tend to take the Howa suggestion or the Remington in something like a Mountain rifle, or Stainless Model 7, with the laminate stock...

Winchester Model 70s aren't new anymore... but if you could find one, a Model 70 Featherweight would be a nice choice...

A Browning Micro Medallion in 243 would also be a nice rifle...

I like older Tikkas, but I have no warmed up to that new T3... I don't like the magazine bulge.. and also don't like the lack of access to the top of the magazine....It would be a good shooter, but it surprises me the Finns would design something so funky and lack of function...

I have a couple of stainless/laminate Ruger 77 Mk 2s in 243 and they are both good shooters...and are well balanced to carry afield..

Well, all 3 are great choices. If it were me, I would look into a new Savage. Uncomparable out-of-the-box accuracy, very ecconomical and not at all bad to look at. But no matter, any new rifle is a good rifle if you like it.

I have an M70 compact in .243 Win.. IMHO it's about the perfect size and weight for a light deer rifle. took a gazelle and an impala this summer with it.

I have a T3 Hunter in 25-06 that will poke the eyes out of song dogs at a couple hundred!
Just brought home a T3 Camo in 22-250 and would gladly grab another T3 any time.

The action is smooth and the accuracy is AWESOME!

If you can find an m70 compact you'll be pleased. Bought one for my son and couldn't be happier. I should say that I like the features of the m70 and Ruger m77 above all others.

My vote is Tikka T3 in either the LS, Varmint or Tactical rifle. Sweet rifles. I have 2 T3 in the LS models (270WSM), and a buddy of mine has a LS (300WSM), Varmint SS (22-250)and a Tactical T3 (223) rifles.

If you can, look at a Sako m75 SS or Varmint. I bought a lightly used SS in 243 in May. I cant wait for winter for coyote and wolf hunting.

Does Tikka make a 4 or 5 round magazine for the .243 Winchester? I imagine a .308 magazine would work as well for both cartridges.

Quality control is best on the Tikka, Win is second, followed by Rem. Ruger makes high quality arms, too, and they are handsome.

It really all depends what you really are after. If you want a very nice looking rifle go for some of the more expensive models mentioned. If you simply want a rifle that shoots great, buy the savage and take the extra you will save and get the very best glass you can afford. What would compliment a great shooting rifle better? You cant hit what you cant see, even with a savage!!

2. Savage has awesome accu-trigger that goes to 1.5lbs

The site says "3 round magazine" and one in the chamber.

my brother has a 270WSM tikka t3 lite stainless that shoots half inch with reloads. I'd choose a tikka

the action is a whole lot smoother than my kimber montana in 300WSM. actually id nearly have his tikka over my kimber. the tikka is a consistant shooter while mine hums and har's a bit.

I was looking for a .243 five or six years ago and had my heart set on a Sako or a Tikka, had sort of convinced myself that was what I needed, having fired a Sako a couple of times I was pretty much convinced. I mentioned to a gunshop owner friend of mine my plans and he told me I had it all wrong, when I asked why he told me that he had just what I needed. He then produced a ten year old BRNO .243 new in the box. It came at ten year old prices plus discount. So, I bought it and it turmed out to be a sub MOA gun. I now have two BRNO's and three CZ's and quite honestly I do not think I could be tempted away from them. For the money they spot on and in my opinion are the perect hunting rifle. They do the job well, are a sensible price and all the preparation they need is sighting in. Not only that the wood on the more recent CZ's is really good.

Just my opinion,
