Gary TName Your Favorite 6 mm Bullet(s)...
Hey guys, I'd like all you experienced 6 mm users to name your favorite 6 mm bullets. Thought of this after reading Bobby Tomek's recs on 6 mm 80 gr bullets. I'm still working up loads for my 6X50R Bellm barrel in 14" Contender. From initial load development, here are the approximate muzzle velocities I'll be working with: 55 gr=3050-3150 fps; 75 gr=2800-2950 fps; 80 gr=2650-2750 fps. These are the categories for your submission(s):
small varmints (e.g. prairie dogs, ground squirrels, etc)
large varmints (e.g. coyotes)
deer/antelope (I'm talking about small whitetail deer inside 250 yards, not large mule deer or midwestern wt at really long range)
I don't think my velocities will be sufficient to make bullets heavier than 80 gr practical. Gary T.

Cold BoreFor smaller stuff, 70 gr Sierra MatchKings and 70 Gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.
For deer, 95 gr Nosler Partitions.

<reload>If you are looking for accuracy use custom made bullets. 66 grain work great with a 1-14 twist. Easy to shoot golf balls at 200 yards. Good Luck

TXLoaderThere are several I like in my 6mm Remington...
Hornady's (for small varmints):
58gr V-Max and 65 gr V-Max.
Hornady's 80 gr FMJ (plinking); Hornady's 87 gr HPBT's and 100 gr SP's (load development and coyote/large varmint/small deer hunting [<100lbs])
The bullets I prefer to hunt larger [>120 lbs]deer with...Nosler's 100 gr Partition and Barnes 115 gr Original.
I'll be looking pretty hard at the Hornady 100gr SST for my next hunting load development. Should be a winner for deer of any size if it lives up to 1/2 its billing...

StonecreekI've only loaded .243 and .244 rifle in 6mm. With your pistol velocities, I think you need to use generally lighter bullets.
Small varmints: 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip
Coyotes: 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip
Deer: 85 grain Nosler partition or 85 grain Sierra or 87 grain Hornady
For the varmints, similar Sierras, the Speer 70 grain TNT, or any other brand which shoots well in your gun would be fine, too.
