The Best Performing Quarter Bore?

THE BEST of the .25's is...not the fastest, just the bestest!! The .250 Savage AI!!
Ya know, I was ready to tell you you're all wet, that the 257 AI is the best, but, [Frown] I think you're right. I should never have had my 250AI rechambered to 257AI.

Bet it's warm in Greencastle lately. Phew!!!

I have an opportunity to pick up a Savage 250 M-99 with brass rotary magazine in very good condition. Can anyone tell me what would be a fair price for this rifle?

Depends on the model..a 99EG will bring $650. in real nice condition...A 99F (50's model) will bring about $500.

My pick of the quarter bores is the standard 250-3000, no recoil, and it kills deer all out of porportion to its balistics...It visually appears to kill big game better than the 6mm's, at least that is my experience.

The 25-06 is a real popular round but I always opted for the 270...

well boys,
make mine a .257 ACKLEY IMPROVED. mine will do any thing a 25/06 or 257 weatherby will do on considerably less powder. mine clocks 3'607fps with 100gr. bullet at the muzzle.
any 257 ACKLEY fans out there try NORMA MRP, it really wakes this cartridge up.

Theres only one 1/4 bore for me and that is the 257 Ackley. There are some that will run faster but at the expense of your barrel. The Ackley is the most efficient 25 there is. [Wink]
