usmc1980Swift a-frame for 25-06
I was thinking about handloading some either 100gr or 120gr a-frames for my Ruger m77 target in 25-06.
Just want some thoughts on loads or thoughts on the a-frame. Thanks
Oh, I forgot this would be for deer in Michigan.

308SakoSince both of these work very well in my .257 Ackley I am confident that they would work well for the 1/4-06.

375-06JDJMy Ruger M77 target was the newer mark 2, and it really liked the 100gr, and really does not like the 120s. Same story for my current sendero. The 1 in 10 twist seems to work the best with the 100gr bullets in my experience. wk

the jiggermy 25/06 loves IMR4831 and 100gr partitions. i've never shot a-frames.

700 nitroi was using 115 grain barns x tripple shocks and a max charge or rel 22 accuracy in a ruger left hand stailess rilfe was consistantly .75-.850 consistantly all day long.....
groups shrank to .625 after free floating the barrel.

The A-Frame is a hunting bullet and a superb one at that with a premium price.
I'd find a much cheaper bullet for a target rifle.....but if you're into hunting deer etc then it's ok.....
Deer are not difficult to kill and IMo the A-Frame is for animals much larger than deer.....I wouldn't get excited about them under 277 caliber.

Scott KingI've used IMR 4350 and 120g A Frames in my Ruger 25-06 on deer in Montana a couple of times, and been very happy. It's hasn't been fabuously accurate, (more or less an inch for five shots at 100,)but at 2-300 yds, the performance of the bullet has been very satisfactory.
The load was near max as I recall, but not at the limit. Both deer died, so what the heck?!
If I had it to do over, and I do, I'll use the same load in the same gun.

Blair D CalvinThe 100 TSX works great with H4831 in all the 25-06's I've seen in Oz.
No one imports the Swifts. Pity.

CWWI have had excellent results with both the 100 and 120 A-Frames in my 25-06 (Colt Sauer). Velocity is running 3100 with the 120's. As you would expect, they are very effective loads on white tails.

BigNateDon't be afraid to try the 120's. I've had good groups from them in both a .257 Roberts & .25-06, and am using 117gr Hornady SST in the .25-06 as a general purpose round with good results. Both of these have 1:10 barrels. I use H4831sc, WLR, Win cases or have used RL22 with the same cases and primers with a 115gr Barnes XLC for deer as well. I don't think those XLC's are available any more. With 120gr Sierra and Hornady I've used the same powders as well as IMR7828. It will shoot real 1/2" groups, I'm what's a little inconsistant. I have shot groups that can be covered with a dime with this combo. Nate

30378I shoot 120s but they are the Nosler Partitions. Excellent bullets for the 25-06. 49gr of IMR-4350 or 54gr of IMR-7828 works really well in my Sendero.
