loud-n-boomerRifling twist for .218 Mashburn Bee?
My brother is rebarreling one of his rifles to .218 Mashburn Bee, and will primarily be using 45 to 55 grain target bullets. What is the recommended rifling twist for this cartridge?

Idaho Sharpshooterstandard is 14", but I would go for a 1:12". Gives you a little more versatility with bullet weights.

Bobby TomekThe advice you got from Rich is sound. The 1:12 will perfectly suit that range of bullets.

MtnGunI have built and used 3 .218 Mashburns. I would go 14" twist. I suspect, when its all said and done, you will shoot more bullets 50grs and under, than over 55grs. By the way, the Mashburn is a wonderful little cartridge. Try 1680 powder with a 50gr Vmax.

505ED1-12 to 1-14 cool cart. Have fun with it.

Either one would be fine, for the little Masburn Bee.

Idaho SharpshooterYep! Just imagine the 100+fps advantage over my 22 Hornet and those sweet little 40gr Ballistic Tips.

butchlocmine is on a martini cadet with a 14" twist, it loves the 40 gr nosler BT w/ 16.2 gr of H4227

bmashI got a Cooper model 38 which I am working up loads for. It has a 14 twist. So far my best load is 17.5gr of H4198 with the 50gr vmax (3095fps) I am not doing to good with the 40gr (3290fps)vmax or 55gr (2980fps) bullets yet, but it is early. I prefer the 14 twist with the lighter bullets and higher velocity. Some say you will get more velocity with the slower twist. (I am using 25-20 cases)
