<bigcountry>Quick Release scope rings and bases
Just picked up a tactical rifle, used, at a gun store. It has A.R.M.S Quick Throw rings and base on it. Looks very expensive according to this web site.
http://www.mountsplus.com/products/ARMS/arms-22M.htmDoes anyone know if they are good or not? I am temped to take off and put Leupold rings and base on. It is hard for me to trust quick release items. Any help would be appreciated.

<bigcountry>Well, if anyone is interested, I tried it today at the range. They work as described. I got .9" groups so it holds good, and I took off and put on 4 times. 3/4 times, it held dead on zero. Last time, it was .5MOA difference. Still think I will take them off and put a set of Leupold bases and rings. It just sits a little high off the barrel for my taste. Just doesn't seem suited for hunting purposes. It is nice to be able to take off for cleaning however.

WachtelIve used a set of EAW QD mounts for 15 years without any trouble. I have irons on that rifle and in "thight" situations the scope has been on and off many times during the hunting seasons. Never a shift! I tested them like you did when I bought them and was convinced. On my new rifle I will also get QD mounts!

Big BoreI've been using Warne QDs for many years, in both Maxima and Premier. Both return to zero every time. I have a muzzle loader that has it's scope taken off for every cleaning, literally dozens of times a year, and I have yet to have to resight the rifle in. Good enough for me.

LE270I have no experience with the particular brand of rings and bases you mention, but I do have Leupold Quick Release rings and bases on my .270, .300 Weatherby, and .375 H&H. I recommend them highly.

JStordahlBigcountry: If your rifle is a Rem 700 or Win 70 get a set of Badger rings and a tapered Badger base. You can view pictures and descriptions of these items at
www.badgerord.com or
www.premierreticles.com The Badger Ordinance equipment is impressive.
