FAMAGE is the abbreviation for "FAbrica de MAterial de GuErra"
An old friend made magnums from these rifles. I'd personally opt for a M-70 or M-700 as it's just plain less costly to make a .257 Weatherby and you delete the heat treat issue completely.

Von GruffI rebarreled a Colombian to 7x61 S&H and after 24 years and countless rounds and have just re-finished it as a 404 Jeffery. It has worked perfectly in both guises and now throws 400gn bullets at 2300fps and groups into less than an inch at 55yds off the bench through an aperture.
Von Gruff.

Consider the .25-06....it's close to the Weatherby and has quite a bit less force against the bolt and requires no alteration to the bolt or feed rails.
