Has anyone got any experience of either the hornady 100 gn RN 6mm bullet of even the Barnes 115 gn RN bullet ??

I would think both these round nosed bullets should give more "knock down" than standard SPBT or spitzers.........

Anyone tried them ??? Would be interested to hear ??

What are you trying to knock down and at what ranges?

The few that I know that have tried them say they work OK, but no better than the standard flat base bullets. And not as well as the premiums. Better than the BT bullets because, like all flat base bullets, they retain their cores better than the boatail designs do. E

I have used the 105 Speer RN in a Rem 760 6mm Rem. starting around 2950 fps out to 250 or so yards and it will most definitely bust a deer's ass. Holds together and kills very well.

I've used the Hornady in a 243 and in my 6mm. Great for woodland but the BC is so low it really is down on energy at 200yards plus.

In woodland it seemed to work well but it does get blown about a bit and as such was not for me as my 6mm gets mainly used on big fields.

It is the only RN 6mm bullet left now. The Lapua mega is discontinued as is the 105gr speer.

I used some Speer 105 RN bullets that I had left over from loading .244 Rem. ammo for a friend who had one of those with a slow twist, which would not stabilize the spitzers, They were used in a 6mm/.284, and loaded to a muzzle velocity of 3375 FPS. They did kill big mule deer (200+ Lb.) very well. But there was not enough noticeable difference between them and pointed bullets of similar construction to make me switch permanently. At the time, I was living in New Mexico, and shooting deer at ranges from 30 yards to 300+ yards.
