5,56 and 5,45mm military bullets
Can anyone tell me what are Ballistic Coefficients
of the following 5,56mm bullets?
-M193
-M885(SS-109)
I don`t know why,but something tells me their BCs
are different than those of the commercial FMJs,
which in turn tend to vary between manufacturers. [Confused] For example:
Berger 62grs/245
Speer FMJ 55grs/269 62grs/307(WOW!But I doubt it)
Hdy FMJ 55grs/243
Sierra FMJ55grs/272
Winch.FMJ 55grs/267
Also, anyone knows the BC of the soviet 5,45mm
bullet used in their 5,45x39 round?
The darn info seems impossible to find [Mad] ,and
I`d like to do some ballistic charts to find out
how the Soviet round performs compared to the Nato
round.

I've seen the M193's BC given as .243 and .255. (I've also seen pictures of M193 bullets from different makers with readily visible differences in the cannelures and boattails.) Don't know much about the little Russian round.

Yesterday I found two ballistic tables for the
M885.
3060fps @ the muzzle/1746fps @ 500yds - 20"bbl
and
2709fps @ the muzzle/1503fps @ 500yds - 14,5"bbl

After checking this data I got the BC.319
Wow!Surprisingly high for a .224 bullet,assuming
the data is true.
And yes, commercial FMJs vary(world of confusion)
but I know M193`s cannelure starts at .485"
measured from the tip of the bullet. Now if someone
could measure his 55FMJs from the majors,we`d be
sure. [Smile]
The Russkie 5,45 is a terribly obscure round even
here in Europe.
NotRicochet,thanks for your reply.
