DeerdogsRe: 6.5X55 and the 120 grain XLC
I tried 140 grain Xs but I could not get them to group sub 1.25 inch, which I supppose is an adequate hunting load but 160gr hornadys will group into .6 inch. I prefer the accuracy.

DesertRamI like 'em over RL19, but fell back to the 140s because they perform better on paper and game for me.

B17GWell, Sunday after taking a deer with a 100 grain Hornady out of a 6.5 x 55 doing 3300 fps out of the muzzle, about anything in a 6.5 x 55 should be more than adequate.
The 100 grain dropped the deer instantly and exited.
However this was a neck shot at 100 yds as this was all the deer had exposed himself above the brush he ran into.
Shot an injured deer ( hit by a car) at 125 yds with this same load off the highway and this load also dropped the doe instantly. Average size mule deer. Some Indians, went out and took the carcass in to eat.
Cheers and good shooting
