I just had to lighten up the other .223 war before someone is cyber killed!

Mort CanardEvery Elephant, Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Water Buffalo and Tiger that I have ever shot was dead right there due to my using the .223 cartridge. To an animal, every one screamed and fell over with all four legs in the air quivering!
I am considering going to the .17HMR for dangerous game as the .223 is just too much gun!

GhubertI used a friend's .223 to take Elephant, blue Whale and Winged Gryphon.
I was asleep at the time but nevertheless had the presence of mind to put the bullet in the right spot.

Hot CoreSeems to me I remember someone on this Board Killed the very last T-Rex with a down-loaded 223Rem. Shot it between the eyes with a Varmint Grenade bullet and Bulk Powder. May have been bartsche!

carpetman1Nobody has stated if they are Eskimo or not---so this thread is not addressing the question. Stay on topic and quit hijacking the thread.

I am not now, nor have I ever been an Eskimo, Upik or Inupiat. Besides, I thought the purpose of this thread was to "lighten up".
Now after Ghubert's report on Gryphon hunting, I am thinking about digging out my Lewis Carroll omnibus and preparing for either a Jabberwock or Snark hunt tonight. No need for a Vorpal Sword here!
I have a .223 Rem!

30378Back in Nam, VCs used to pull carts with imported Indian elephants. I have seen more than one killed with a full auto M-16 in order to stop transportation of goods.

You’re far too serious for this thread. Taking down elephants in VN with the M16 doesn't count as hunting. If it took 1 round or 1001 rounds, did you really care? I can’t pass judgment on anyone in times of war, liberals can but I can’t. Thanks for your service.

30378Yup! I am serious.

Nope! Never played an Eskimo on TV, but I did play one at snooker. Beat him too!

I forgot to add that the ammo was a new line of Chinese manufactured 22lr loaded with a 15 grain plastic projectile, muzzle velocity 40,000 fps!

carpetman1Mark Canard---Beat an Eskimo at snooker. I got an invite to a golf tournament and I thought, I dont golf. Then I read on that it was for crippled and blind children. So I thought I might could win this.

That's the most disturbing thing I've heard all day. Poor bastards. Don't you know that sounded awful!

wasbeemanPerry, you sound like a liberal. It was war, man. Would you rather the elephant live and American men die?

carpetman1We know the elephant was an Indian elephant. Chinese ammo. Elephant owned by VC. We dont know if 30378 is Eskimo or not.

I've seen one blown open by an M-79 "Blooper". Absolutely an "Adequate Cartridge" for an elephant.
The M-79 Trigger Yanker was not an Eskimo, nor was the elephant.

MoorepowerWhat would the world have been like if the .223 had came about before the 275 Rigby?

greenjoyOn large game you really should use a bigger diameter bullet not that small bore stuff.
Step up to modern big bore bullet like a .224" Hornet.
I don't doubt the awesome power of the Hornet cartridge has killed at least one of every game animal on the planet.
