I noticed that there has not been much said about the 25WSSM since 2003-2004. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this round. I was looking at a couple of Winchester Mod. 70's at a local shop the other day. They seemed moderatly priced & were good looking rifles. There was also a 243 wssm, I believe. I was wondering if it would be worth looking into.

25 WSSM is nearly identical in performance to a .25-06. The only advantage is the short action, which may save some weight. Some claim there is an advantage in accuracy because short actions are stiffer. Recoil should be slightly lower due to a smaller powder charge. Ammo would probably cost more. Bottom line is, buy what tickles your fancy.
