nilgiNew Barrel ?
I'm going to put a new barrel on my Rem 700 .243 to use mainly for coyotes. Right now I'm leaning to Shilen since they are right down the road, but am also considering Krieger or Hart any suggestions?

vapodogYou're welcome to spend as much as you like.....but you'll have a tough time beating the Shilen regardless of how much you spend......especially for a varmint rifle.

the jiggerI just tried my first Shilen on the recommendation of my gunsmith. I have been using douglas since the mid-70's. This Shilen is amazing. It's the easiest cleaning barrel I have ever owned. It is chambered in 250 Ackley
and is a #3 taper. With 100gr NBT's and a good dose of RL15 it shoots .5moa consistantly. I will, without a doubt, use another Shilen when the occasion arises.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

260remguyI have several barrels from the 3 builders who you've cited and think that they all work fine. Barrels are like people, in that every one is different.

wasbeemanI have no basis for comparisons as I have only used Douglas. However, I just had a rifle rebarreled and the smith said the barrel was as closely spec'ed as any he's seen. FWIW

Since their just down the road and I assume you have them chamber be a good deal. I've only used their select match and that price is pretty close to the other top barrel guys.
