Rem. Mod 7 in 260rem
I recently aquired a blue and walnut rifle for my middle son. Whitetail deer is the target and I will be loading for it. My prefered bullet is the 129gr. hornady sp interlock. Does anyone have a favorite powder that has worked well for them?
thanks
Rick

I've been loading my Rem Model Seven in .260 with 41 to 43 grains of IMR 4350. I've gotten MOA or better accuracy with 160-grain Hornady RNs, 120-grain Nosler Ballistic Tips, and 125-grain Nosler Partitions.

I've gotten best results with a near max load of RE 19 under a Sierra 120 gr. Nosler's ballistic tips also shot well with the same load. I'm using the sierra as the BT's so-so repuatation makes me leery.

4350 I have . also a couple of pounds of imr4895. I will probably try em both. Does anyone knoqw if the trigger pull is adjustable on the remington model 7? This one I have is heavy and gritty feeling. It certainly could use work.
Thanks

44 grains of XMR 4350 at 2800 fps

Otherwise RL 19 is another top vote getter for this bullet weight.

I wanted to shoot the 129 Hornaday in my 260 and it would not shoot regardless of what powder primer combination I tried. I went to 120 Sierra Pro Hunter, and found a load with IMR 4064 that shoots sub. 5 MOA consistently @ 3010 fps avg. velocity, and the 125 Nosler Partition using either IMR 4350, H4350 or RL 19 that shoot in the low .5's to the low .6's at a velocity of 2920 to 2980 fps depending on the powder used. Velocities were from a 1 in 8 twist Krieger barrel finished at 24". Hope this helps some.

For the 129 gr. Interlock, I'd try a 4350, RL19, or a 4831...

I've had best results with Winchester WXR, 49.0 grs. gives me 2800 fps in my 22" barrel, and moa or less accuracy. [Smile]
