Sporterizing the M38 Swede

Can you gentlemen provide me with recommendations on sporterizing an M38 Swede?

Where can I find drop-in stocks?
After market triggers?
Aftermarket modifications to the safety to allow low mount scope?
Cock on opening?
Bedding the action?

Estimates on cost and degree of difficulty?

Anyone done this before? Any pictures?

Here's a different opinion...

KEEP IT or SELL IT "AS IS" -- and buy something else to mess around with...

Swede's in original military configuration are getting scarce...

If you've got you heart set on doing it, then find an m/38 that someone else already started to Bubba around with, then proceed from there. On several websites I frequent, what you suggest to do would be considered a "cardinal sin" of the worst kind.

I dont see any reason why you shouldnt modernize the rifle. As long as you keep the original parts so that the rifle can be restored if desired, that is. IMHO.

Timney makes triggers and safetys that you can install yourself. Glass bed the action into a new stock and then fit it with a Harris bipod. That is what I am doing with my m/96 right now.

BUT KEEP THE ORIGINAL PARTS.

I've got a model 96 that I wish would shoot to point of aim at 100 yards, not one foot high. Do they sell taller front sights for this rifle? Mike.

What is the cheapest way to get rid of a little throat erosion? and keep the rifle original and in the same caliber??.

As long as the rifle is shooting well, don't worry about it. If it is shooting poorly then re-barrel it. Last year I bought a couple of M-96 barrels new,can't remember where, but I bet there are still some around.

I plan to do a lot of shooting with this rifle so I will shop around and buy a barrell for my m96 and have it ready for when I will need it. Thanks for your help.
