6.5 Interlock or Gameking?
I've been doing load development for my 6.5x55. I've tied the following bullets:
156 Vulkan
155 Oryx
140 SST
140 Gameking
140 Interlock

It don't like anything over 140 (1/9 twist). The SSTs didn't shoot very well either. The Gameking and the Interlock shoot to virtually the same POI and group about 1-1.5" at 2700 fps.

Anyone had any experience or any opinions on either? I know both will be fine but I'm an anal SOB and I'm bored so I want some opinions.

I'd go Game King at those velocities, especially if you are happy with the accuracy!

I would recommend the interlock.

If for no other reason, just to make it even and a more difficult decision to make. Smiler

Scott,
I know it's not on your list, but I use the6.5 cal, 130 gr. Nosler Accubonds almost exclusively in the 6.5 x 55. 260 Rem., and 6.5 x 284. Reasonable price, itty bitty groups, never fail to exit.

I have kllled more game than I care to remember and mostly all were killed by the Sierra Gameking and the Hornady Interlock 140s. Tried the others but???? Why spend the bucks if the need is not there. Accuracy was [and is] the first thing on the agenda and both of these meet the parameters and the bullets just work!

GWB,

I'm a big fan of Accubonds as well but I figured with the high sectional density of the 140 grain bullets, I'd probably get regular exits on deer and hogs.

I've heard the 6.5 Gameking is a really good bullet, not too soft like others. Of course the Interlock is always a good performer at moderate velocities.

I'll probably go with Gameking since it looks better without the cantelure. I don't seat it deep enough to utilize it anyway.

The 140 gr Hornady Interlock SP at 2750 fps over H4831SC is a proven performer on game out of my 6.5x55.

Scott--The Win bulk packed in .22 and in 6mm have worked very well for me.

I haven't seen the Winchester PP offered as a component in 6.5 but it could be a seasonal thing. The Core Lokts are available but they are no cheaper than the Interlock or Gameking and probably don't offer any performance advantage.

I've used 140 Game King, 129 Hornady SST and 130 Barnes TSX in a 6.5 x 55 in a 1:9 twist Model 70. The SST's seem to be the most accurate with about .75" groups. The GK and the TSX gave about 1.25" groups. The PH warned me not to use the GK in Africa as they always seemed to come apart. My son hunted with the Barnes in Africa. They did the job when he did his part. The TSX always held together and exited on some large body animals.

I am shooting Hornady's out of my 6.5x55.

Anymore I find it very hard to to use anything but a Hornady Interlock in cup and core style.

I do like my monometals though, just not needed at 6.5 velocities IMO. Especially out of my 18.5" carbine barrel.

There's a lot of good choices out there but I doubt that one can do better than the interlock....maybe equal to...but not better.
