Please tell me about the "new" bullets and 250 Savage
Gents
I have a pretty Ruger International Stainless in 250 Savage. I have a good variety of 25 cal bullets to choose from including 100gr TSX and 110gr Accubond. I'm just wondering if these bullets would perform well with the ballistics of this cartridge and the shorter barrel in this Ruger rifle?
Thanks Greg

I'd give Barnes a call and talk to one of their Techs, They're nice folks and could answer that for you. Let them know what speed you'll be running them at. If your using them for deer and smaller you might want to give the 80gr TTSX a shot.

After the first shot the rest are just noise

Don't count on the 110 AB to stabilize in a 1-10" twist 250 Savage

I recently picked up a rem 700 classic in 250 savage . It shot pretty good with both 100 gr. ballistic tips and partitions.
Not new, but they definitely work.

I used the 100 TSX on a pig at about 100 yards and the bullet performed well, but I don't think it was any better than the standard non-premium bullets I normally use. I usually shoot the 90 gr Sierra HP and it works great at 250 Savage speeds. It would be considered a varmint bullet in the 25-06, but in the 250 Savage, the softer bullets are great.

Have you tried Sierra's Prohunter 100 gr #1620 bullets?

I think they would be great at 250 Savage MV for game up to deer.

popcornHaving hunted with 25 calibers from 250-3000 to 25-06 IMP. I think that most cup and core bullets above 80 grain do just fine in the 250- 3000. Loading the 75 to 85 grainers to 25-35 ballistics works good at reasonable distance. The 250-3000 really isn't a premium bullet cartridge. beerroger

I sold a rifle similar to yours to a friend of mine for his teenage son. Loaded 100g Partitions for deer and hogs and matching 100g speers for practice and yotes. It's worked very well.

I'd be leaning 80TTSX.

You need to remember that you are not shooting a 257 Weatherby. All of the socalled PREMIUM BULLETS requier SPEED (lots of SPEED) and in the real world you are not going to have it(2750-2850fps). Just go with Hor 100gr Interlock and I know you will be happy with them. Had a 257Robers about 15yrs ago and was the most acc. bullet in it (2900fps). Tried every thing that was out there at the time. Shot a Catalina goat with it @ about 75yds, 25cal hole going in and a thumb size going out. Two steps and a nose dive.

Greg, The 250-300 Savage was originally intended to handle an 87gr bullet...that's how they made the "wow" 3,000 fps velocity at that time. Unless the barrel twist rate is different, you may find the best accuracy with the 80-90gr bullets. Cup and core are great at pre-magnum velocities.
