jim811473031 or Varget?
Looking for a new .223 load. Any opinions on these two powders or if you have a different favorite I would like to hear about it also. Thanks

LeeCI think Black hills loads Ramshot TAC in their 223. Would be a good place to start. I get very little deviation from these powders.

StonecreekIn my experience, 3031 doesn't meter very easily (as with most stick powders). It has also given me fairly wide velocity spreads between individual shots. Accuracy, however, hasn't suffered proportionally.
I like H-335 (or its military and competitor clones WC-844 and AR 2230) in a .223. But lots of powders, including Varget, 4895 and a host of others work well in this caliber.

DesertRamMy CZ-527 is particularly fond of 26.5 grains of Varget behind 50 grain V-maxes. I think it's worth a try if you've got nothing else going on.

redialWith the exception of 75 & 80 grain target bullets, all my .223 loads are typically 3031 concoctions. Haven't yet found a bad one - only good and better!
