PanchoLucky Lucky LUCKY!!!
Buddy asked me the other day about a rifle he was considering as he knows I'm a fan of my 264. Said it was a post 64 70 and the guy wanted $400 for it. I told him to bring it by and I'd take a look at it for him as he was hesitant to buy a well used rifle he didn't know anything about.
Well, couple of days later he shows up with a really nice Pre64 in 264. Stock in really good shape but some rust hickeys on the floorplate and along the left side of the action. Had a Williams block in the rear sight dovetail and an old Weaver K6 in Weaver mounts and rings but the scope was clear. Bore was dirty but I couldn't see any problem with it. The only thing I could find wrong with it was some fool had cut the barrel off to 22". Oh well - I told him to buy it quick and consider having it rebarreled. Some guys just have all the luck. He's supposed to bring it buy this wknd and we'll see how the 22" barrel shoots.

That "fool" could have been the Winchester factory. They did offer the .264 in a Featherweight version with a 22" barrel. This may or may not be one of those...the steel floorplate is troublesome.

PanchoThis wasn't a factory 22" bbl. Dead giveaway is the sight blind in the barrel and no front sight mounting holes.
