115 grain in 6mm
Hi guys

Has anybody actually stabilised 115g grains in 6mm with a 1 in 8 twist tube ?

I have a 6 x 47 lapua and I understand its a bit of a luck time and the talk of stability at the edge of its envelope and temperature sensitivity stuff but has anybody got actual experience with the above set up

Its a 6 x 47 lapua 26 tube

thanks

In the absence of the experience to answer you my suggestion is that you input the data in the Berger Ballistics calculator - including altitude - and see what type of stability factor it spits back at you.

Spoken to Berger themselves
All they said was to buy a few boxes and try then
Also spoke to Brian litz himself
again
The same advice

Bottom-line in the uk 115 grains 6mm are not easy to come buy
Only on special order
Hence I would like to discuss with somebody with real life experience
And share notes
Thank you anyway

26 inches with 37.2 grain n160 behind it
2910 fps with very very good es and sd

Just want to cheat the wind a bit more

My set up is a 24 inch Pac Nor barrel, heavy magnum contour, with a one in 8 twist on a Remington Long Action.

bullets are seated out to magazine length.
I tied multiple powders, and just settled on the RL 19 charge of 46 grains with a standard large rifle primer.

This is the most accurate rifle I own.

I had the same set up built on an Enfield 1917 action, with a 26 inch barrel, in an extra heavy Magnum contour built for a Nephew when he graduated college and was headed off to a military academy. Same luck with his. Mounted it in a Boyd's grey laminate stock.

have one more set up mounted on a Mauser Action, with a 1.25 inch diameter barrel and a length of 31 inches.

Haven't shot it yet, as the stock I picked up for it, a Richards Laminate, was messed at the factory and they won't replace it. Woould be interesting to see what that extra 7 inches of barrel would add to velocity.

on the Remington, the only other load I shoot out of it, is with a 75 grain HP Hornady bullet..that chronographs at 3700 fps MV...

a 6mm Rem on a long action is a total different animal than one on a short action, seating the bullet out further.. same thing with a 6.5 x 284.. and evidently the same of a 6 x 284
