I am curious to know if Winchester made any pre-64 model 70 featherweight rifles in 257 Roberts? I have not seen or heard of any, but that doesn’t mean anything, as my experience is limited. There were many standard Bob rifles made, for sure.

squeezenhopeMany folks have lamented that they never made Roberts featherweights. I almost never say never with Winchester because of the custom shop. I will say I never saw or heard of one that was legit.

Thanks. That is what I was thinking is likely the case. I have a refinished ‘06 featherweight that would make a handy 257 Roberts. Just needs a barrel, I reckon.

ClaMarI built a 1909 Mauser in .257 Roberts in the '70's. I used a Douglas premium featherweight barrel, which is the same contour as the Winchester featherweight. Nothing but good to say about that barrel.

I have a trade pending on a Featherweight action and I was pondering just this build and caliber. I want to drop it into a Bansner stock and really see how light I can build it.

I was thinking of sending my barreled action to Douglas, as well. However, I want to make sure my chamber doesn’t get a super long throat. I want to shoot 115gr partitions for deer, and 75gr V-Max for Coyotes. I am primarily interested in accuracy and have no interest in squeezing every last fps out of it.

ClaMarMy barrel was installed by Harry Creighton to my specification that a 100 gr. bullet touch the lands at 3". I can shoot the 75 gr. bullets, although I seldom do, and I believe that throat length makes the best use of the standard magazine length and flexibility to use bullets from 75-120 gr. with the longer bullets intruding excessively into the powder space.

Lamarthey did make a post 64 F-weight right at the end there.[red butt pad]
you'd be pretty hard pressed to build one that'd beat it for what they cost.

Atkinsonno pre 64 257 was ever marketed to the public in fwt, only in std wt and those fetch a pretty penny today. Same for the 250-3000.

PotholeAs mentioned the push feed XTR FWT was made in 257 in the 1980s. Sweet rifle! Also, Winchester made a "Shot Show Special" FWT in 257R in about 2012 or 2013. It would be pretty hard to find one of those, I bet.
