djpaintlesRe: Best OTC 6mm varmit/target gun
Fortunately there are lots of good guns that would fill this bill.
The Sako's in 6PPC is extremely accurate but a little work to load for and for longer range you might want a little more velocity.
I had a Ruger Heavy barrel in 308 and loved the 2 stage trigger and it's accuracy. I wish I wouldn't have sold it.
The Coopers are gorgeous, extremely accurate but expensive.
The Heavy barrel remingtons are favored by many.
Another "Luxury" pick would be a Sako 75 Varmit Stainless, every sako I've had has been extremely accurate. Or even better a TRG-22 in 308, you have to shoot one to beleive how good they shoot.
One of the Heavy barreled Tikka T-3's might be an excellent choice in the lower price range.
But all in all for price/performance the Savage's are up near the top. But which rifle is a tough decision because there are so many great ones!.......DJ

makeminestainlessI have a walking 22-250 but am thinking of getting a larger bull barrel rifle. This would be used for varmits and frankly just long range shooting for fun. I think moving up to a 6mm would make a nice addition for windy days and the 25's just seem a little too big. The way I see it my choices are 243 win, 6 rem and 243 WSSM. The Savage laminate SS (12BVSS) in 243 win looks pretty attractive and is a little cheaper then most. Anything the other choices offer that make them a better choice? I've heard good things about Savage accuratcy, how about the 243 win with varmit or match bullets? The twist is 1/9.25. I reload my own ammo. Thanks
