Load/Ballistics for .223 Ackley Improved???
I'm going to try this one more time. I'm also posting in both "Reloading" and Small Bore Rifles" in hopes of getting some response.

I've looked at Saeed's posted data, and it's a start. I want to get more than a start.

ANY load data for .223 Ack.Imp. ???

Mostly I'm looking for 40 gr. bullets and Hodgdon BL-C2 or H-335 powders. Another option is H-322. BUT I'm interested in ANYTHING you might have -- even opinions about loading this caliber.

If you're loading "Obscura Arcanium" powder and some custom machined 122 gr. projectile, I'd like to hear what you have to say.

Chrono data would be nice if you have it.

OK??? Thanks!

Although I don't know the exact case dimensions, this round has to be very close in capacity to the .222 Magnum. If I were you, I'd start with that data.

Another way to approach it would be to start with near-maximum listed data for the regular .223 and work up from there. Actually, I think you're going to find very little differnce -- perhaps only a grain or two of powder in a given load -- between the regular and the improved. At any rate, the difference in the two cartridges is within the range of difference of two individual rifles in the same chambering.

Historically, the improvements from the AI loads come with slower, bulkier powder. The steeper neck angle provides for more complete combustion in the case. Also, the steeper neck prevents flow of brass into the neck, resulting in longer case life.

Rumor has it that the 40 gr. bullets loaded AI can run 4000 fps or more with pretty conservative loads.
