.14 caliber barrels? T/C contender platform

I am changing my plans from building my next project rifle .14/221 off a CZ 527.
Having a hard time wrapping my head around the purchase of a new rifle only to gut it and turn it into something else.

I'm seeing that if I went with a T/C barrel that will be a lower cost to see if I like the round. BEFORE I gut and change a rifle.

Ideas?

last I knew Al Straitiff had a couple 14 cal barrel blanks. I dont remember the price, just remember they were far cheaper then any others I'd heard. his number is 603-532-9483
