ramrod340Please explain the 6.5 Grendal Variations
OK looking at reamers and there are a number of variations.
Can anyone give me the quick difference between the
1) Alexander Arms
2) Les Bear AR
3) Borden Bolt Action
Grendal chambers?
Or are they just different enough to get around the license issue but function the same???

matt salmI know the LBC-AR version was brought out in response to the trademark issue with the compound angle throat on the AA version that only 'authorized' companies were allowed to produce....read royalties. B.S. In my opinion. Les Baer and Lothar Walther a bit earlier came out with their own versions that differed in throat geometry only and basically told Bill Alexander to pound sand. I have reamers in both 6.5 'bolt gun' (PTG) and 264 LBC AR...both shoot half minute in AR and bolt rifles...as soon as the LBC AR came out I bought one and haven't touched the AA version since.

ramrod340I figured it was a license trademark issue.
My question is when I go to rent a reamer I have the Bear and Borden options. Will they both work in a "normal" set of Grendal dies?

DoublessPaul, as I understand it, the Baer version was cut with a throat angle that made it prefer a single projectile (123 grains, maybe?); supposedly, the original Grendel would tolerate a wider range of weights.

Doing some reading on AR15 forums they pretty much say the same thing. The Grendal was up through 140gr and the 264LBC was in the 120-123gr range.
