Mike JScramjet,
The .20 cal bullet selection is growing. I recently tested some of the Lucas 40 grain boattails with W748 and was very pleased. Lucas is also offering a 45 grain. I will try those in the next few days. There is a new start-up outfit in Houston called Badger Ridge Bullets that will have three weights including a 42 grain lead tipped soft point. Schroeder has three 40 grain bullets. Unmussig says his selection and delivery time is improving. Hornady has caught up with demand for its Vmax after the .17HMR intro set them back. I haven't yet shot the Berger 36s, but will soon. The point is that bullet availability is no longer a valid excuse NOT to try a twenty caliber.
I can't yet give you any help on barrel life for a Tactical. Mine is a Pac-nor 13" twist, and only 5-600 rounds through it. Its nowhere close to losing accuracy yet, and cleans up without effort. That number is based on known quantities of rounds taken each trip to the dog towns, plus load work estimated.
When you get some good loads worked up, how about sharing them?

<russ>Mike is right about the 20's, I see them coming out of the woodwork wanting bullets. On the 14's, check out my site at smallcaliberbullets.com to find all the sources you will need to build one. The Montana Rifleman, here in Kalispell, is making actions, and is also considering making a small action about the size of an XP, for around $300. I'm going to get more details of this and report back.
I don't even own a 20, but Mike and others have convinced me that the 700 I have in 222 needs to be re-barreled.
You would absolutely love a 14, I have yet to see someone that wasn't in a state of awe after witnessing what it does.
