257 STW
I am looking for some information on the 257 STW. Does anyone know about this caliber or know of some place to find it.
Thanks

The .257 STW is just the 7mm STW case necked down to 25 caliber. It was created by gun writer Layne Simpson ( the father of the 7mm stw) a few years ago.

It is one of the fastest rounds in the .257 bore with velocities exceeding those of the .257 Weatherby. Because of the small bore and big case its pretty rough on barrels.

A friend had one built as a long range deer whacker and the barrel lasted about 850-900 rounds before the throat went south.

For more information try contacting Lex Webernick at Rifles, Inc. I think he helped Simpson develop the round and built some of the first rifles for it web page

Hope This Helps,
