Would i be able to better the heavier bullet with the lighter one due to more speed?

Main thing is bucking the wind.

I'm also leaning a bit toward the Vihtavuori powders.

Thanks guys, and yes these are the bullets i'm choosing from. The only thing i find better are Berger and their price outreaches me a bit.

Usually past 3-400 yards the heavier bullets of the same type of design begin to overtake the lighter bullets. In 600 yard matches and farther you will not see light for caliber bullets winning. The higher BC's of the heavier bullets really pay off in wind bucking and long range tradjectory.

My recent experience has shown something remarkable. That is that out to 550 or so on PDs, the little 6.5 Sierra 100 HP in the .260 is very accurate and effective out to about 700 yards with MV of 3200. This appears to be the practical limit. Load is 41.5 H4895, F210M and Remington brass. Can't say why, but stuff happens. [Smile]

For longer range, I use the 139 Lapua, F210M and VV N165 in the 6.5-284, again Vm is around 3100 or so.
