6PPC for Roe deer
I have probably already asked this but; what would be a good bullet for roe deer in this caliber?
I am thinking of going with Nosler ballistic tips, but I lean toward the varminter version, 80gn Spitzer. Or possibly a Sierra 75gn HP Varminter. The reason being that I worry a better construtced bullet might exit without doing much damage at close range.
Maybe a Sierra GameKing 85gn HPBT would be a more conventional choise?

I use a 62 gr. G.S custom on similar game, very dramatic, no meat damage at all.

If you can find them, Barnes made a 75 gr. X-bullet, it would do very well.

The 85 gr. Partition would also be very suitable, but then you start giving up trajectory.

One thing to make sure of is twist rate. Most all of these bullets need a 1/12 to stabilize (standard twist for the PPC is 1/14). HTH, Dutch.

You might want to try Hornady 80gr 6mm Single Shot Pistol bullets. They were made for hot 6mm pistols (6mmJDJ) at 2500 to 2700fps. I shoot them in my 6TCU rifle at 2950fps and they don't blowup. I have a 12" twist and the work just fine (1 to 1.25" @100yds). With this bullet at 2950fps muzzle vel., thats 1000ft.lbs. at 200yds.
