You can have both the T-3 Lite and Laminated SS in 6,5x55. In the US it's a special order item but they are out there.
It SHOULD be a special order item, but call Berretta and they simply say "Sorry, we aren't importing that model at this time". Like it would take a trememdous effort to put one on the same truck/boat/shipment as the the "standard" caliber rifles. They are made in the same freaking factory, how hard could it be??!! Yeah, and their pistols suck too.
I ran into the same problem - paid and waited 6 mos for a "USA special order" 6.5X55 to hear the same thing. I sent an E-mail to export(at)sako.fi, couldn't find an E-mail address to CC Berretta USA (surprise!):
Subject: Tikka website correction
To whom it may concern,
I believe that accuracy in advertising is a good thing. To this end, I suggest that you change "*For USA special order only" to "*Unavailable in USA". Your importer is unwilling to make any kind of "special" effort on behalf of your potential USA customers, so your website is not accurate.
I hope this changes.
Thank you,
Bill M
IF I get a reply, I'll pass it along.

clark98utI'd prefer a rifle with a wood stock and stainless barrel, but would settle for something with a stainless barrel/composite stock combo that I could swap later. I don't have any particular reason for wanting that combo other than aesthetics, but I'm having a hard time finding it.
Thanks,
Dan

csamI think Sako/Tikka are the only ones to make a factory rifle in 6.5x55 swede in Stainless, but I have a sugesstion.
You could get one of the Remington Classics that were put out a couple of years back. Everytime I see one of the take off barrels from a remington in a calibre like the 6.5x55 they sell for bug bucks on ebay. Seems like a 270 take off gets about $25, but a Swede barrel goes for over $100. That would go a long way to towards a custom Stainless barreling job.

clark98utUnfortunately the Sako is out of my price range. I've seen the Tikka listed in that caliber, but I haven't seen one for sale anywhere in stainless. I'm wondering if they even import that stainless rifle in the 6.5x55. Anybody know for sure?
Also, if I were to do what you said, what does a custom barrel usually run? I'm REALLY new to the custom gun world.
Thanks,
Dan

MLCI'd try to find a stainless Savage chambered for '06 or it's immediate family, then try pac-nor(looks like around $310) or perhaps a cheaper barrel company.

Mark R DobrenskiClark I'd be for seeing if Tikka is gonna make it, I know they will do it in wood and blue but not sure about stls.
I was pretty sure that Ruger did not make the stls version in the Swede but a fellow here says they do, so if that is true then you have your problem solved. I know they make it in the 260 stls if that helps at all, which it probably doesn't being as you asked about the Swede.
Have a super day and let us know what you find out.

clark98utDo you have a link or model number? I know they make a 6.5x55, but I can only find it in a blued barrel.
Thanks,

Sauer 150You can have both the T-3 Lite and Laminated SS in 6,5x55. In the US it's a special order item but they are out there.

clark98utSauer,
Any suggestions on where to look?
Thanks,
Dan

Sauer 150I would call one of the bigger companies around and ask them to order one for you.
Should not be much of a problem if they're into a little customer service.
Maybe you can call D&R Sportscenter, ask for Mark and tell him you got his name from his Norwegian buddy. That might help

The Lam SS is about 600$ I think

B17GHowa had one in 6.5 x 55 Stainless a season or 2 ago. I saw one.
As far as a rebarrel job, If you have an action, a rebarrel job costs about $350.00 here in Oregon.
I had a 6.5 x 55 Pac Nor barrel done on a Winchester Featherweight, with a factory laminated stock from the 1980s.
I got it with a shot out 30/06 barrel on it.
I wanted something light but for open country traveling.
So I got a 6.5 x 55 with a 27 inch barrel on it.
It wil really reach out and touch something, and is also very accurate! I wouldn't sell that rifle for $2500.00.
ONE of my favorite rifles.

JJ_MillerClark, Ruger dropped it this year due to slow sales so I bought one just to put up and keep. I found one thru Chuck Boggs, he is a big Ruger retailer. He can still find you one I'm sure. Call him at 304-344-1900. He also has a huge selection of HK and Benelli..........................JJ

clark98utOk, I guess that brings up the question, which would you guys choose? The Tikka or the Ruger? Prices are pretty similar.
Thanks,
Dan

teal325For me Ruger - I have owned a few and liked every one - nary a problem - both M77 and the MKII versions.
The stocks fit me almost like a custom and they look great.

holzaugeClark98ut,
I am also a stainless steel fancier and the little Swede is sweet for the eastern woods. I searched for a SS gun in 6.5x55 twice. About six years ago I searched unsucessfully, and again this last summer I searched, unsuccessfully again. I couldn't find the rumored, perhaps mythical SS Sakoes or Tikkas. All the distributors said they hadn't seen one. I could only find a Ruger in a used, blued gun and I didn't want a blued gun. I looked into having one made up but feed worries and the price spooked me. I finally switched to 7mm 08 and bought a Rem 700 Titanium. It works fine. Let me know how your search comes out. Good luck!
