What's the heaviest bullet a Savage can digest............
Simple question. What is the heaviest bullet that you've been able to get a FACTORY savage 1/9" .223 barrel to stabilize adequately without having the barrel puke the bullets at the target?

To the things that you are sayin' who do you thinks gonna hear
And if you should die explainin' how the thing they complain about
Or the things they could be changing who do you thinks gonna care

A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

I have a Savage 110FP. I recently bought some 77grain Nosler match bullets, but have not tried them yet. I will let you know!
Seafire, I like that picture! I think I told you that I had a cousin (RIP) who was a test pilot for these during WWII.

What is the C.O.L. you are using for the 77s? Do they work through the magazine?
Thanks

Yankee D..

Sorry I can't answer that right now...

I don't have any 77 grainers right now to measure them and my notes do not denote the OAL... like many of my handloads, I make a dummy round by pushing it into the lands.. and then backing of the seater die an 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn....

That is shot in my Savage 12 BVSS which I strictly single shoot, so I don't know if it can magazine stack them or not...It does have a long magazine....

Sorry I can't be any more exact that than..ya caught me 'out of stock' at the moment....

cheers
