Bad Ass WallaceConverting a ZK465 Hornet (1949)
Just bought a 1949 CZ 22Hornet with a wrecked barrel (bent, shortened and ringed)for $US150. Timber and action are in exceptional condition and the bolt face looks new. Not a piece of plastic to be seen.
What should I chamber the new barrel to; 22K, 17AH or stay original?

courtney platerKind of depends on what you already have. Now if you have a hornet I'd be thinking new caliber and BTW, .17 AH would be at the top of my list. On the other hand, if you don't, then you could make the hornet a sweet shooting tack driver with that action. Because I have a hornet, I'd go .17.

Oz300622K Hornet. Save the .17 for a future .17 Mach IV.

Such classic action must be in classic caliber 22 hornet is a fine caliber, second option would be a 22 K hornet.
I hope this rifle will have a nice Aussie walnut stock and a nice blued barrel

BAW,
Does your wrecked barrel have the rear sight fitted? I'm after one for my ZKW465, can we horse trade or just swap cash for goods? My vote for a rebarrel/rechamber would be a .17 Ackley Hornet.
Cheers...

craigsterIf you have another rifle/rifles in Hornet I'd opt for the K version.

Bad Ass WallaceCon,
I'll keep you in mind. I got a sniff of a Brno take-off barrel from a mate but he don't know if it still has the sight. If it has I'll send you a PM.

Bad Ass WallaceI've measured it all up and it will fit. A rimless 218 Mashburn Bee (22 Carbine)! Cases are formed from M1 Carbine and necked to 25, then fls.
The rim on a Hornet is .343 and the rimless M1 case is .345.
The bolt face doesn't even have to be altered.
BAW,
Thanks for that, the rear sight is the only thing missing off my Brno. Will the 218 Mashburn Bee feed through the magazine? As I understand it the limiting factor on the Brno ZKW465 is magazine length and shape?
Cheers...
