Yesterday at the range:
The CZ 527 American in .222 Hit it's 9 year peak with a 7 shot .600" group at 100 yards. This rifle has the light weight hunting barrel. Just gets better and better.
Sadly,however, my buddy is the one who shot that group. AC is right ; it's all in the shooter.
The .250-3000 Shaw barreled Mod 200 Stevens was shooting small groups at last. It seems to have taken about 500 rounds to get that barrel really shooting good. FYI roger

Roger, that's what you get with Shaw, I have a 6.5-06, that has taken about 700 rounds to start shooting. Just need to WEAR them down a bit.

This isn't just a "shaw" issue.....I've noticed it with many of my barrels.....mostly Douglas and Shilen.

Occasionally a barrel shoots right out of the gate....but often it seems they want to "settle in" a bit.

Vapo, I guess I have been luckier than you. The only barrel I had any consternation with was the 6.5 from Shaw. Copper fouled easy and very hard to clean. As I said after all these rounds it is now starting to shoot like some of the Pac-Nor, Douglas, and Badger's did out of the box. Funny, because I had Shaw barrel a 700 Remington for me in 35 Whelen, and it shot like a house on fire, still does. It only took a few rounds, and that was mostly just finding the right powder charge/bullet combination more than anything else. That's why I couldn't wait to send them my Springfield action to barrel to 6.5. This one has mostly been a dog.

Amen to that, Jerry. Every Shaw Barrel I have(there are a few) exhibits the same characteristics. roger

Not to stir the pot too much ( ), I've yet to have a Douglas barrel that didn't shoot very well right out of the box.

Yeah me too Roger. I had a Sako rebarreled to 243 with a Douglas, by a very reputable gunsmith, Accuracy Speaks, it shot so bad I sold it to some poor soul up in Oregon.
