SilverfoxIf you are going to use AA2230, I would highly recommend starting
WELL BELOW the 28.0 gr. load that
trshep says he is shooting. Accurate Arms lists 27.0 gr. of AA2230 as the Maximum Load.
I tried only 4 loaded casings using 27.0 gr. of AA2230 in my Savage 12VLP back in October of 2004. The temperature at the rifle range was 48º that day. My average velocity at 11' 7" from the muzzle was 4,128 fps and the group measured .660" center to center on the two shots furthest apart. I'm not sure I'd want to even try a load of 28.0 gr. of AA2230 in my rifle after seeing the velocity I was getting with just 27.0 gr. of AA2230. However, each rifle is different and what exhibits excessive pressure in mine may not exhibit high pressure in your rifle.
While my favorite powder for just about any bullet I use in the .204 Ruger is H4895, I have also worked up loads that gave me very good accuracy with 32 gr. bullets using Benchmark, H322, BL-C(2), WW-748, Reloder 10X, and Varget.

bythebookI use 32 gr V-MAX and BLc-2 in 4 different 204s and they all shoot it very well with a vel. 10ft from the 26 inch barrel of 4120 t0 4132 depending on rifle.

Chuck WhiteI know that this is not BALL or FLAKE powder, but in my rifle it's really accurate!

The following is the result of testing my 26 inch TC Encore!
Date: April
Temp ..... 44 deg F.
Barrel .... 26 inch TC Factory barrel
Case ...... Hornady
Bullet ..... 32 grain Hornady V-Max
Primer ... CCI 450
Powder .. 23.0 grains IMR 4198
O.A.L. .... 2.265 inches
3-Shot muzzle velocity average .. 4125 fps @20 ft!
3-Shot group center to center ..... .330 inches @100 Yds
I bought 32 grain Hornady factory ammo and used the fired brass for my reloads!
NOTE: I was getting 3/8 inch groups with the factory 32 grain ammo! I was surprised and pleased!
I tried some 40 grain factory ammo and the best I could get was a 5-6 inch group and the bullets all keyholed!
