3455 avg. velocity, 5 shot .400" group. The hole not touching was caused by the shooter(me).Also there is reason to believe that the load weight is in error. It will have to be redone.

First of all your attention is called to the performance of reformed 7.62x39 cases with large rifle mag. primers compared to Norma cases purchased to cal. with small rifle primers. The Norma cases have 10% greater capacity. In the loading it was found that the Norma case would easily hold 28.2 gr. of the 4895. the reformed cases had a hard time holding 27gr. of 4895.In fact the lighter loaded reformed case had a faster velocity than the heavier loaded Norma case.

I think the real kicker is that an inexpensive Stevens mod. 200,tupperware stock and rough trigger, combined with a Shaw barrel, a $54.00 TRUGLO scope operated by a 74 year old man with an irregular pulse rate of 43, who feels it is up hill both to the target and back in a little wind still did what you see.
The reformed cases all showed signs of slighty hard lift, somewhat flat primers and a couple showed the witness mark of the ejecter recess. Probably the 26.1 gr. load of IMR4895 was a close to real max or over for the reformed brass.

Of real interest to me was the results of the reformed cases with large primers compared to the Norma cases with small primers. Nice experience with a good bit learned. roger And thanks again to the walleye guy.

I see your shooting was with the 52 Grain Burger flat base bullet......and it's just dawned on me that this bullet is what has caused my best ever groups.

A .22-250 I built actually shot this bullet (an actual 10 shots) under .375 " group using #5 contour Shilen barrel.

I've shot some very fine .224 caliber bullets but this one is my all time favorite.....It's just that it's not required accuracy for the varminting I do.....3/4" fills all the needs I have and V-Max, and TNTs cost less and funtion just nicely.

However for the guy that want's the best he can get.....this Burger offering may just be the best available.

I was fortunate some time back and picked up a fair quantity for $90.00/1000. I also bought a large quantity of of 34gr. HP VARMINT NITE MARE EXTREMEs for less than a nickel each. Every rifle that they are used in seems to do quite good. once in a while there is a flyer. roger

I sure hope you feel at least a twinge of guilt..... You know there's shooters in China that don't get bullets at all!

The 50 gn Match Varmint, and the 50 gn Match Bergers shoot just as well as the 52 gn in several rifles I have; 222, 222 Mag and 223's.
Berger's are very good bullets.

Try some Benchmark and watch the groups really come together.

Roger, in general, how do you like the 34 grain bullets. I was thinking my 1-16 Sako .222 might digest well.
