.223 - 1x9 - 69gr bullets
Looking for info on this combo. Loads are fine, I'm not gonna blow myself up. I'm wondering what works for a seating depth? Thanks.

Cold BoreWhat kind of info are you looking for?
I shoot 69's over 24.5 grs of Varget, with either WSR or CCI BR primers, depending on the rifle.
Seating depth? Are you shooting them from the magazine or single loading? If magazine, your mag will dictate your max (figure 2.250"). If single loaded, experiment with seating depth, to find out what kind of throat your rifle has, and what length it likes.
Cold Bore, appreciate the answer guess I wasn't specific enough. I'm shooting these in a Win bolt action, one at a time.
24.5grs of Varget, that must be for an AR, light load.
Sometimes when you ask questions you find out things you didn't think of.
Oly,
Check out the Sierra Manual, there are a ton of loads listed.
My powder of choice with that bullet or the Hornady 75 grainers, Amax or HP is H380.
It is a low pressure powder in a 223, However I get real good velocity and accuracy out of it and Rem 7 1/2 primers.
Come deer season here in Oregon, I have loaded up Speers 70 gr Semi Spitzer in 223, using 27 grains of H380. I load it for kids whose dads are taking them out for the first time and want them to use a gun that won't knock them on their buns but will kill a deer. I have had to dispatch a couple of deer with this combo that have been hit by cars and were limping in a field by the road with broken shoulders etc.
This load drops anyone of the deer shot with it in their tracks.
Chronographed velocity is over 3,000 with a 22 inch barreled Winchester Featherweight.

JStordahlOhlsen: The 24.5 grs Varget load for the Sierra 69 SMKs is right on. Sure you can go more, but Sierra recommends best accuracy with the 69 is obtained at 2800 fps or thereabouts. I've chronoed the 69s with Varget up to near 3000 fps, but, I'll take accuracy vs. velocity any day.
I keep the 69 gr rounds at magazine length for an AR so the ammo will interchange if needed, with my varmint rifle, a Winchester Stealth. For the Winnie, I could seat longer, but the 69s do quite well at 2.246-2.250 oal. Good luck.
