B L O'ConnorBest in what sense? The longest (=heaviest weight) that will stabilize? Most accurate? The shortest (=lightest) that won't come apart? Or . . .?

hivelosityI would say a 52 gr sierra would be about perfect.
What rifle you shooting it in?

Beretta682EAccuracy to 325 yards is what I am looking for.
The barrel is a blaser r8 barrel.
Thanks,
Mike

vangulikBullet profile, not just bullet weight, is a factor.
Although I have not tried it yet, the rather short stubby for weight 60 gr Nosler Partition is supposed to shoot well in some 1-10, or even 1-12, 223 barrels.
Increased muzzle velocity from longer barrels also helps stabilization.

B L O'ConnorFor 325 yards, I would regard a 52 grain Sierra as a
very good starting point.
The reality is, you just have try various bullets within a range of 50 — 60 grains, and you'll probably find something that works. Both the weight, shape/profile and manufacturer. Not to mention powders.
But that's the fun, right?

Lamarmy 1-12 really likes that sierra bullet too.
it will handle some 60gr bullets if I push them,
but that's really the outer limit.
that 52gr sierra is the cats meow for tiny groups though.

Beretta682EI am been shooting a mix bag off different 5.56/223 Ammo.
Been shooting pretty good at 300-325 yards. Between 2-3 inches and I have not dialed down the scope to a particular round/bullet.
I don’t reload and I would like to shoot something cheap or available in bulk.
Thanks,
Mike

Well, then you've limited your options, and I can't help you other than to suggest that you experiment with whatever ammo you can find.
As always, your rifle will tell you what it likes and any loads we, who do reload, suggest will not be of much use to you.
I wish you the best.

I have a buddy who reloads for me. But if I am shooting 50-100 rounds a week I don’t want to impose.

p dog shooterIf you want the best groups 52 Sierra MK's I shot tens of thousands of them.
They accounted for many thousands of dead P dogs a few coyotes, crows and a couple of deer.

Beretta682EI picked up some horandy black 62 grain on clearance at academy.
https://www.academy.com/shop/p...ain-rifle-ammunitionIt shot 15.44 mm/.609 inch 5 shot group at 318 yards. There was no wind today.
I am going to try and acquire some of this ammo in bulk.
Mike
My 1 in 10 Pacnor barreled 22" AR shoots the 40 gr. V Max Hornady ahead of Benchmark very well. I've not had a pass through in front of the diaphragm or in the skull of a coyote.
