AT LAST!!!
Well, after a quest that would rival the search for the Holy Grain, I have FINALLY shot my new Win. .243. (Winchester Classic Featherweight)

I even broke it in according to the wild and crazy methods preached on the various forums here. (Even if I did get some strange looks at all the patches flying out the end of my bore after every shot. [Big Grin] )

Results? I think it's gonna be a keeper. I didn't do anything fancy...just cranked the bullets around until they were one ragged hole 1.5" high at 25 yds and then I went home. My thing is long range varmint shooting and VERY long range rock shooting...not target. So I reckon I'm ready to go shoot crows out to 300 and rocks out to 600 or so.

Right off the bat this .243 seemed to show a definite preference for Hornady 75 gr as opposed to WW 80 gr Sp. Whatever the little darling wants. That's what I'll feed it.

Can't wait to introduce Mr. Crow to it. [Smile]

Good luck with your .243 Win. I just love that Featherweight stock.

A friend got a as new 1966 M-70 that was out of Wins' custom shop in .243 Win. He has been shooting 100 gr factory loads and the rifle groups really well.

I loaded up some 100 gr Sierra's with a modest load of old 4831 and tried them in his rifle. It shot a 3/4" group at 100 yards and that with a hot fouled bbl. Nice to see the handloads shoot like that.
