Before the .260 was commercialized, I used IMI Match .308 brass for my 6.5x308s. It worked like a charm.

Later, after the round was legitimized by Remington, I used their brass but still prefered the IMI. Consistency was/is an issue with Rem brass. It did reasonably well, but when you are used to better quality, you tend to shy away from it.

I've tried about everything out there since then, and other than the IMI, my favorites are Nosler and Lapua .308 necked down. Hornady .308 WCF Match brass is another that affords a higher standard of quality.

Remember the 6.5 Redding? It was a 30-degree shoulder neck-down of the .270 Redding, which in turn was a neckdown of the 7m/m-08.

A fair number of guys used to form brass for it by just firing factory .243 ammo in the Redding chamber. The bullets rattled down the bore, of course, but the brass reportedly fire-formed perfectly. Headspace gauge for the Redding case was exactly the same as the 7m/m-08.

I use 260 Rem or neck up 243 Win brass. If I neck down 308 brass I have to turn the necks and necking up I dont.

I've necked down Winchester 7mm-08 and it worked fine. I've necked up Remington and Winchester .243 and it worked fine. I've shot a lot of REMINGTON and it worked fine..........virgin brass used in one rifle and neck sized after that...........worked fine. I've got 100 pieces of NOSLER brass that has been loaded and fired one time...........betting I'll have a 25% cull rate after sizing on it........primer pockets enlarged and loose primers always get the "chunk it in the cull brass bin" from me! Just use Remington and get on with life. 9" for 10 shots at 1000 yards ain't bad and that's from a factory VLS with only minor smithing done! (4/1000's off of headspace and recrowning factory barrel plus bedding recoil lug)GHD .......PS: Anybody got any once fired Remington 260 brass out there to part with?

I put into a call to my contact @ Graf's, since they are a major distributor for Lapua in the USA. Hopefully, she'll have something for me.

So far I've used Remington and Norma .260 cases and haven't been able to tell a difference in accuracy. I just had a reamer ground to fit Lapua .243 cases necked up w/no neck turn for my last .260 though, so we'll see.

I have a preferernce for Win brass, and neck down 7/08 and 308.. since I don't own a rifle in either caliber...

Factory 260 Brass just gave me poor QC... of course that could have been a bad batch....

Occasionaly I have been known to neck up Rem nickel cases in 243 and neck down 308 nickel brass from Rem.

I've had good luck with the above, but necking up Lapua 243 brass would be a bad choice either...

There has been a lot of 308 range brass in the past, locally.. so I have used that a lot...

couldn't beat the price... lol
