holzaugeHow much for a Rem. 541 .22 & Model Seven in .243
My son is in college and wants to sell me his guns. He's not using them now and needs the money and closet space worse than he need unused rifles. He says They're still in good shape and We'd like to keep them in the family but I no idea what a fair wholesale price would be. Both are blued steel. The .22 has a Bushnell Sportview 3-9x32 scope on it. The Model Seven has a factory replacement plastic stock and also the original walnut stock cut down for @11.5-12" pull. I't's had the trigger lightened and carries a Bushnell Elite 4200 1.5-6x36. He says there's some rust spots on the 541 from touching it and not wiping it clean when he's moved. Any traders out there who can give me a clue?

winggunnerDad,
The boy is away in college and if you have gone you will know that he will have lots of expenses. Beer is not cheap these days as well as gas for the car and of course beer, which is not cheap these days.
Have a big heart and give the boy $500.00 each for the guns. After all you might need help from him when he get out of school. You can always make an agreement with him that he must buy them back at no less that what you paid him plus compounded interest at the going rate. I did that deal with my Father some 38 years ago and I always felt it was fair. I did pay him back and I would like to say that I still have the guns in question, but alas the bankruptcy court ended up with them in the end. If the deal sounds like it is to good to be true it probably is. That is what screwed me. Getting into something I knew nothing about.

K3yston3I wouldn't part with either of the 541t remmys that I own... They are darn fine rimfires other than the plastic magazines. $500 is pretty reasonable if it is is good condition.
