Close!! In 1966 or 67-
Fred Barnes and I worked on a 6mm X .270 IMP.30" Douglas barrel to shoot Fred's 110 and 115 grain bullets. It was meant to be a 6mm--06 IMP but the reamer traveled .050" too deep.

The first kills were on two running mule deer bucks, 15 seconds apart .The first was about 35yards away running broad side. Heart and lung shoot and he slammed into a Quaky. Golf ball size exit hole far side.

The second was just going over a rise 50 yards out, 30 feet up and totally in the air. The bullet entered on the brisket side of the diaphragm worked its way up through the chest and exited out the neck. Same size exit. He must have been dead when he came down. We found him 20 feet below the rise.

On elk it was a mistake. Mostly because I used a 105 Speer and at an estimated 3300 fps.using a full case of 4831 Mil. Surp.
When I left Grand Junction the rifle was given to a teenager. Off and on I heard reports on how great a deer killer the rifle had become.
I hope this helps !!

grandveneurI get in contact in the UK for perhaps to buy one caliber 244 H&H.
I am looking for opinions about this rifle because of the fixed scope and the big difficult without special tools to zeroing a rifle regulated with ammunition not available today.

mehulkamdar B. E. Chaplin of Hampshire built several of the rifles for David Lloyd. They are still in business, but make very few new guns these days. You could check with them, if it is a particular rifle that you're inquiring about. Very nice people to talk to.
