Anyone tried these powders in 6.5 x 55? If so, details, please. Thanks.

I used 39 grains or so of Varget with a 120 Nosler.
I've also used 4064 with the 160 Sierra and it shot well.

after using a lot of different powders on loading for the 6.5 x 55... IMR 4064 is one of my favorite, regardless of bullet weight..

accurate and deadly...

A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

I tried both of these powders in my 6.5 X 55 Swede.....I finally selected IMR-4350 as my choice but H--414 and IMR-4831 worked very well too! I use the 120 grain bullets but had I wanted to shoot the 140 grainers I think IMR-4831 might have performed the best.

It's been awhile, and I don't have notes in front of me, but I think the 4064 didn't work particularly well for me. IIRC, I reached my comfort level at 39 - 40g of powder, and about the same with Varget (which metered much easier than 4064). I prefer a higher volume of powder in the case, however - at least 90% for consistency - so I moved to H4350, which I've stayed with since.

40 grains of varget with a 100-grain sierra hp shoots less than 3/4" for me.
