shot my 204 today
I put together a 204 ruger with a howa heavy barreled action, bell and carlson medalist stock, and timney trigger. Im not all set up for loading this caliber yet, but i tried some factory hornady 32 grain v-max loads today and i am begining to wonder if i can handload to their accuracy. here is shots 3 through 7 from my brandnew gun.

oh yeah heres the gun, its wearing a mueller for now, but its going to get a vx3 6.5 x 20 or a 8.5x25, either way its going to get the varmint hunters reticle.

great shooting....and I suspect you can actually fine tune some handloads a bit better.....hopefully

I had the same results with my TC Contender in 204. What a shooter with the Hornady factory ammo! When I empty all my brass I am going to load to a somewhat lower velocity with 34 grain varmint nightmare extremes.

That factory 204 ammunition is pretty good stuff. My reloads with BL-C 2 are more accurate but not as fast or clean burning as the factory fodder.

I may try some blc 2, but i have rl 15, h322 and h335 on hand, I will probally mess with those first and see what accuracy they produce.

Here's some results I'm getting with Midway Dogtowns which is the same bullet as the Midsouth Nightmare Extremes. I have both. This is a five shot group even tho it looks like three. Can't beat those cheap bullets for cheap fun. Dave

Cool,,, give them a go and let me (and others) know. I’m not married to BL-C 2. I’ll drop it like a bad habit if something else works better. Smiler

I chose H322 and have fired 12 or so reloads using it and the 32 gr. VMax. Clean burning and accurate. I am going to use all the factory loads on varmints so it will be a while before I make a bunch of reloads up.

Wait untill you try 35 gr Bergers. I use benchmark with CCI BR4's. If you go over to the 204 ruger forum you'll find ton's of info. Most of it is on top of Benchmark and the BR4's.

27.5 grain of Acurate 2520 and the 39 grain Sierra.........nuff said! A dozen .204's can't be wrong........well they could be but not likely! GHD

I got to finally take the 204 hunting this evening, I shot this hog at around 100 yards, and i hit one hard at 400 yards but it made it down its hole.
