I am starting to work up a load for 25-06 looking at trying to get one all purpose. Will be using from Coyotes, White Tail, Muley, and Prong horn.

Looked up as much data as I can find trying to get powder ideas(being working class wife will kill me if I buy 2-3 more powders).

Rifle is Tika Continetal with 26 inch bull barrel
bullet is looking at 117 gr Sierra SPT Game King. B.C. .410 Powders looking at RL-22, RL-19, IMR 4350, IMR 7828, IMR 4831.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I looked on Loadyourown.com and saw some scary speeds. I am wondering with the case capacity and the longer barrel I should be able to push it with a longer burning powders. I however dont know near as much as I would like so any ideas would narrow down my search.

I always ask then research the hell out of everything. Thank you guys for all the info on the other questions.
Now wishing I had bought the RCBS loader kit instead of the Lee as I am now buying all the other things I need.

Just got back from shooting an hour ago. I shot 25 rounds of 115gr. silver tips and could not get anything better than 2 1/2'' 3 shot groups.(lots of 4'' groups) Just before I left I shot a 6 shot group of 117gr. game kings and all but 1 in a 1 1/2'' group. I've never had that extreme of a difference before on any load.

Try H4831SC. I use this powder with 117 gr Gamekings and get sub one-inch accuracy. I use Win brass and WLR primers.

ss, I use two basic loads in my .25's. Light bullets(75gn v-max's, 87gn tnt's) get Reloader 19 in the max load range of 59 to 60 gns. Heavy bullets (100gn b-tips, 115gn b-tips) get Reloader 22 in the max range of 56 to 57.5gns. Remember to work up to max. I use Winchester brass and WLRM primers. I also debur flash holes and outside neck turn. I have gotten some very interesting results from these combos out of several rifles. I've tried H4831sc and H4831 and got good accuracy but had to slow it way down to get it. Kinda defeating the purpose of the cartridge. With slower burning powders it is possible to get some very good results. I didn't get very good results with anything slower burning than Re 22. This comes from about 7 years of load development. You should see some 1/2" 5 shot groups. Also, if you don't have a Stoney Point oal gauge, GET ONE! It makes alot of difference! With a little luck you will find a sweet spot that your rifle likes. My Sendero loves 100gn b-tips thirty thousandths off the lands. Some will argue thats way off, but thats what it eats.

In my .25-284, i really like the 100 gr. Barnes XLC. It's BC is about .420, and I push them about 3340 fps. with Re-19. E

I bought my 25/06 A Bolt over ten years ago and I'm still working up loads.
My "everyday" plink and varmint load is a 87 gr. Remington bullet (bought in bulk) and 53.0 gr XMR4350 or IMR4350, Rem 9 1/2 primer. I'm in the process of trying different primers with this load.
My accuracy load is 115 gr Nosler/Winchester Combined Technology bulet and 51.5 H4831SC, CCI200 primer.
I've also had good luck with H4831 and 100 gr bullets.
My gun hasn't liked the Sierra or Hornady 117 bullets.

My 25-06 likes 53 grns. of IMR 4350, CCI 200 primer and a Sierra 100 gr. spitzer seated touching the lands. It runs 3280 fps in my Ruger #1 and will shoot 3/4 " 5 shot groups @100. I have to 25-06s and neither one will shoot boattails. The #1 will shoot Horn. 75 gr V-Maxs fair but nothing heavier in a boattail. My brother's # 1 loves boatails. Thats how it goes! I've killed alot of game with my 2 and have never felt shorted by using a flat base bullet instead of a boattail.

The Sierra 120HPBT Game King is great for deer. Chest shots liquidate the lungs for near instant kills. Should do well on anything smaller.

I've had best results with Hodgdon H4831SC in my Rem 700BDL. I've glass bedded it, floated the barrel in the wood stock and adjusted the trigger and shoot 1" groups at 100 yards consistantly. Love that 25-06.

You will probably do well with either Reloader powders. I've used RL-22 in a couple 25-06's I've had and had good luck. If I was to start loading for a new 25-06 tomorrow I would start with this powder. That doesn't mean your rifle will like it as much as mine have though.

I have two 25-06's also, and my findings are identical to yours. Mine like 54 grains of IMR-4350, and 100gr Sierra flatbase, CCI 200 primers, and Rem cases. I'm new to this board, but am on a couple of others. I'm finding a lot of folks, and using close to the same load, with great results. I average 3300 fps out of my model 70, and 3250 out of my custom mauser.

I,m new her also, seems like a good bunch. I had some old Nosler Part. 100gr bullets that my 25s liked and had run out of. I ordered 6 boxes a while back and they have changed them. They have more of a boattail-taper base and now my girls won't shoot em!! I sure like my 25-06s.

This months Shooting Times has a good article on loading for the 25-06. Layne Simpson did the article. Has a lot of loads listed. He likes H4831 for an all round powder. Good article for 25-06 fans.

I've been working up loads for the same purpose using the 100gr xlc-bt.
Someday all this snow will melt and I'll be able to shoot some of them.

My 100gr.XLC's are on the way and the snow won't stop me. Can you believe they are going to cost me over 60$ cnd for them.
I hope they work out (or maybe not at that price).

for 117`s mine LOVES 60 grs RL25 for 3140 fps.thats a little over max in the Hornady Manual.Thats the 117 Hornady BTSP out of a 26 inch bbl.I used to shoot the 100 Balistic Tip and 56 grs IMR 4831,only because I couldnt get any 117-120 to shoot until I came across the RL25.
