BECooleCouple of .223 Loads Wanted
Guys,
I've got a couple of partial bottles of powder that I don't have time to work up loads for, so I'll ask you.
What is your best accuracy load for BL-C(2) w/55gr bullets?
What about AA2230 with the 55s?
Thanks!

Doc224/375In a bolt Rifle or AR ?.
BlC-2 25.5 gr. W /55 grain bulk or best bullet you've got 1:8 1:9 twist ; In mine drops everything inside
a dime size hole at 100 meters .
AA2230 ?, Don't have any of that . I do have Varget H 335 H 322 IMR 4064 IMR 4198 or either flavor of 4895 .
IMO ; If someone can't get a .223 to shoot small groups using BlC-2 , H 335 or Varget .
A ; their screwed up or B ; their Rifle is . BECoole; Nothing personal !!!.

No prob Doc! Thanks for the load! I just don't have the time to develop loads for these 2 powders. Plus I only have a pound of each. So it doesn't seem worth my time to screw with getting the last tenth off the group size. I have my loads for Varget & H335!

I'll pull some of my older data, I know I have some work-ups for 2230. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I don't believe I ever got very good results with AA-2230 and I don't think i';s a very popular choice for the .223. But with that said, it doesn't mean that you can,t run up a good load using all the variables. Will post it as I dig...

sksshooterits funny how much manuals vary. the lyman 49th lists the 2230 at 22.5g-25g i loaded mine at 23.5g 55g hornady bulk set to 2.238" and they seem to bee pretty good. i havent shot them at 100 yet though to confirm. but short 30-40yd shots for testing looked promising. as for a good powder choice seems alot of the local f-match or whatever it is guys have been having good success with it. and from what i understand it was developed for the 223 round hence the name 2230

I couldn't find much in the way of data in my records for the particular load you were looking for, but here's what Speer has to offer. Good luck..

500 FanYou will have modest velicity i.e. 3250 with a 50 grain bullet but accuracy will knock your eyes out with either IMR-4064 or Benchmark with a load-depending on your rifle 26.0 to 27.0 grains and it will be a full case.
Shoot the eyes out of a fly with a 50 grain Hornady V-Max or Speer TNT; I'd guess a Sierra Blitz King as well just never tried them.
The display of PURE POWER is nothing short of AWESOME !

sksshooterwow i really need to get some more manuals. i just finished loading 1k rds of 55g hornadys over 23.5g 2230. there just plinking rounds so no big deal and the test rounds looked fine some im not worried about low pressures but i sure do need to have more than the lyman on my bench.
