9,3x74RJpl.
This is how I did it.
Atkinson,
I am not sure yet. My thought was to make a grip cap of ebony. Maybe with initials in ivory.
I'm still thinking of this.
This making/shaping/carving/sanding/swearing is going slow and I get plenty of time to do a lot of thinking.
What I can say is- if I will use a metal grip cap, it has to be a one I have made my self.

StonecreekThanks for keeping us updated on the progress of your project.
But if you'll reduce your photos to 1280x pixels before posting they will fit on the page so we can see all of the photo.

Here are the preliminary result.
I have ordered a scope for the rifle and as soon as I get it I just have to go hunting.
The rest of this project must wait till after some hunting.

Atkinsonone can never go wrong with the .222 Rem. all my kids and grand kids shot many Mule deer and whitetail with it, the best bullet on deer and antelope is the 60 gr. Hornady SP or HP. I have even used it to cull Kudu...that 60 gr. bullet works much better than the Sierra or the Noslers I used..It expands perfectly and exits leaving a nickel size exit hole about 50% of the time, when you recover one it will be on the off side skin perfectly mushroomed..great bullet in the 222 and even in the 22-250, and I found that unusual but it works in both.

BushchookI have seen plenty of custom Sakos that are not as elegant as they were when they left the factory. Yours isn't one of those. Very nice.
The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

AtkinsonBTW, a lot of questions and kudos for those old Redfield rings and bases for my Sako L-461 6x45..Whichever action I used (roundtop)and I think it was and H&R but wouldn't swear to it, been too long ago..but the bases fit the gun without any modification, so that might be of some help for anyone building a custom L-461, contact Redfield about those old rings and bases and which outfit they produced them for.

9,3x74RIt took some time to finish this rifle, but last night I were able to finally mount the sling.
Now it's time to zero the scope and wait for the 10th of august (roe buck season opening)
