I have a wetherby accumark. working up a load. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Will be used for w/tail and muledeer.

Combine some 120 Hornady HP and some RL-25 and go hunting!

I shoot a 100 grs TSX over a max book load of RL22. Fast, flat and indestructable.

Loading for the 257WBY begins ane ends with a 100gr TTSX a Federal 215 primer and some ammount of RL22 or RL25.

If that can't get it done you need something other than a 257Wby.

I use the TSX/TTSX with a close to max load of IMR-7828. That combination came about because I had 7828 on hand for my 338-378 Wby. H-1000 is very good with the 257 as well and is more temperature tolerant. I always use Fed 215 or 215M primers for my Weatherby loads.

Another vote for the RL22.

I shoot the Accumark in .257 Wby extensively, and have for several years. My best powders are RL-22 and RL-25 with Fed 215M primer. My best bullets are 115 grain and 120 grain Nosler Partitions. My next best bullet is the 110 grain Berger (strictly for targets) and the 100 grain Barnes TSX. I mounted a 6 X 24 Burris Signature on it and have no complaints. Two of my grandsons take a dozen Deer each year between them with it. Recovered a 120 grain Nosler Partition that hit a 180 pound Buck between the shoulder and neck, a front on shot. The bullet was a perfect mushroom in the opposite ham imbedded in the hide, after racking the length of the Buck. IMO, a perfect performance. Good shooting.

My Remington, .257 Weatherby loves a 100 grain TSX over a stiff charge of ramshot Magnum.
3550 and .5 MOA.

I used the same bullet on a deer with a 25/06 and it worked great.

I've found my 257 doesn't like the 100TSX (bugger) so moved to the 110 Accubond with RL-25.

JAD, Why the bad rap on the Accubond?

They have worked well for me in 25 calibre and in other calibres, including the 338RUM , even on tough African game such as Oryx.

I'd rather use the Accubond than a conventional bullet on deer sized game; they would in fact be my first choice, even over the TSX.

That is based on culling about 20 fallow deer with my 257 and the 110 AB. Terminal shock is excellent, with broadside exits every time. Frontal shots do not result in an exit, but the animal goes down FAST

On game bigger than deer, then you would have to take your shots carefully with the 257 Wby...........

Mine likes the 115 Nosler Ballistic Tips and RL-22 with Fed 215 primers. Mine DOESN'T like the same with RL-25 for some reason...

With my 257 WBY Mark 5 I use RL25 powder for max power. I prefer the 117 bullet.

100 grain Barnes TSX or Nosler B-Tips with RL22 and Fedral 215s. I have to say the Ballistic tips will give you a fairly large rose-wound, but your deer will fall dead as fast as gravity will allow. The TSX will give a nice hole with great expansion and I havent found one in the deceased yet. I have seen these bullts hit and vaporize long sections of spine and run through 15 inches of pig and out. They do seem to allow the dead to run a bit on broadside shots through the H&L, but that usually even seems to kept to 30 yards or less. I am looking forward to trying the 80 grain TSX, but I will probably start with 4831 or 4350. I don't think I will get RL22 in the case.

I just started loading for the 257Wby and was wondering what velocity is everyone getting with 115/117gr bullets?

tom holland ------ I get 3450-3500 fps with 115 and 120 grain Nosler Partitions with RL-22. With 100 grain Barnes TSX and the same powder I get 3700 fps plus. Good shooting.

Not a max load but I get 3380 with 120 Partitions and 69gr of 7828.
