Powders for 25-06
I was just wondering if anyone has used any of the Vihtavuori powders in 25-06's. According to the burn rate chart I have I figure N160, N165, and N550 might all yield good results. Close to same rate as H4831. Which is what I have been using quite a bit. Any help here guys?

Never used the VV powders in it although I use em in other stuff and like em a lot. My best luck was actually with IMR not H 4831 but as we all know each one seems to like what it likes.

I used VV N-560 in my 25-06 with 100gr ballistic tips. 54gr of it come out with some brilliant accuracy! never shot it over the chrony tho. the books max is 55.4gr.

N160 works very well in my 25-06: top velocity and great accuracy. You're on the right track with finding a powder close to H4831.

Why not just use H4831; it's cheaper.

I recently worked up a 25/06 load with H4831SC for a couple of friends and that powder worked out quite well.

I like 4831 a lot I find with my heavier bullets 117 and 120's. IMR4064 and IMR4350 lighter grain. IMR4064 with my 75grain vmax. Just wondering about VVN powders. That's what I love about reloading. You can always try new things. I was also thinking about trying some Accurate 3100, Re-19 and 22.

I have kind of stuck with Hodgdon and IMR so far. Nothing wrong with that but figure you never know my gun might like something else better.

I heard a lot of guys have good luck with IMR4831. I never tried that one.

Alot of the load books I have seen seem to lik IMR-4831 best. Mine likes RL=19 and IMR-4350 best...tj3006

I had my best performance from Norma MRP1 in the .25/'06, both as regards velocity and accuracy. Particularly with bullets of 115 grains and heavier.

IMR 4831 worked best for me too

The VN N560 for 100's and up or N550 with lighter bullets, will go well for you.

2 mates and I all have 25-06's with barrels by the same custom barrel maker and they all shoot the 100TSX under .4 with H4831 (our 2213SC).....makes life simple. Big Grin

With 115 grain and heavier, my M-700 25-06 really likes RL-25.

Is that RL-22 powder? I ordered an HS precision 25/06 that should be ready any day and I was going to work up a 110 Accubond. Do you know what the velocity is with this load?

Thanks,
Mike

I've had excellent results with VV165 and 100 gr. bullets.
